Images
Some images on this site are made with AI. The people in them do not exist and the scenes never happened. Every such picture has an “About this image” link under it. Pictures without that link are real photos.
What "made with AI" means here
An image program can make a picture from a written description, such as "two friends on a bench by the sea in autumn". We write that description, the program draws the scene, and we decide whether it is good enough to use. The faces, the clothes, the rooms and the streets are all invented. Nobody posed for these pictures.
Why we use them
Most of our pages are about private moments: lying awake at night, a fight in the kitchen, feeling alone at a party. A real photo of a real person in that moment would tie a stranger's face to a problem they may not have. Stock photos often look staged, and the same few appear on hundreds of sites.
A made picture lets us show the feeling without putting anyone on display. Where a real photo is the better choice, for example a place or an object, we use a real photo.
How to tell them apart
- Every large picture made with AI has a small "About this image" link right under it. It leads to this page.
- A small picture on a card is the same picture as on the page it leads to, so the link sits on that page.
- A picture without the link is a real photo, taken by a photographer and used with permission from a photo library.
Each file made with AI also carries a hidden label that says so. It is the standard way of marking these images, so other websites and programs can tell too.
What we check before we use one
We look at every picture before it goes on the site, and we throw most of them away. A picture is only used when:
- the scene makes sense, the way it would in real life: people look at each other or at something, not at a blank wall;
- it looks like an ordinary place in Europe or North America, the places most of our readers live;
- hands, faces and objects look right, and there is no garbled writing anywhere;
- it shows no real, recognisable person and no brand;
- it fits the page and suggests nothing that the text does not say.
What these pictures are not
A picture made with AI is never shown as proof of anything. It is never a photo of a person in one of our stories, never a "before and after", and never a picture of what an illness looks like. When a page talks about research, the evidence is in the text and in the sources at the bottom, not in the picture.
If something looks wrong
If a picture looks off, or you think it looks like you or someone you know, write to info@mindthesigns.com and tell us which page it is on. We will look at it and replace it if needed.
