Friends and loneliness

Making friends, keeping them, and the evenings that still feel empty with people all around.

You can have a full diary and still feel lonely. Seeing people and feeling close to them grow at different speeds: it takes many hours together before someone you know turns into a friend. So feeling alone with people around you is common, and it does not mean you are doing it wrong.

Small, regular contact tends to help more than one big effort, like a weekly walk with the same person. Here you can read why loneliness can sit next to a busy social life, and draw your own circle of friends to see who is really close and where you could start.
